The first storm system of the weekend is exiting the region today as the next colder storm is approaching from the Northwest. We have seen 5 inches of snow at the top of the mountain so far with some rain at the base.
Lots of snow on the way for the mountain starting tomorrow.
Not a lot of changes from yesterday with the biggest change being the amount of moisture that the first storm is picking up and is going to bring inland on Saturday. Also, the trend is a little further South again for Monday and Tuesday with the jetstream.
We have some more snow on the way this weekend just in time for the updated opening day of Friday the 16th.
We picked up a foot of new snow overnight and it has been snowing most of the day. It looks like we have picked up another 6 inches here at the base today during the day.
Lots of cold and some snow in the forecast for Squaw Valley over the next couple of days. A cold trough is currently pushing its way down the West Coast and will arrive Thursday morning.
Enjoy the 70 degree days today and tomorrow before the big flip to Winter comes on Thursday. Squaw has been testing out the snow guns already this week on a few cold nights but there will be excellent snowmaking conditions coming along with some natural snow.

Squaw Valley picked up another 14 inches yesterday which brought the 4 day total to 34 inches as of Thursday morning. It also brought the total for March to 166 inches! That means more snow has fallen in the month of March than had fallen all season through the end of February.
March has been good to us so far and there is more snow on the way this week. Squaw had only picked up 142 inches before March and has now picked up another 137 inches in the month of March. With the snow coming Tuesday night we will double what had fallen Nov-Feb in the month of March.
Squaw ended up with a total of 8 feet over the past week. That is on top of the 3 feet from the first week of the month bringing the total for March up to 130 inches. That makes a miracle March so far as we had only picked up 142 inches for the entire season prior to March. The month isn't over yet and we will have 3 more chances at seeing a
