The first wave of precip moved through in the early morning hours and is starting to wind down now as of 6 a.m.  We weren't expected much from this first wave but it looks like we picked up up a few inches above 6500 ft. on the webcams.

Clouds will begin to increase today ahead of the subtropical jet that will stream moisture into the Sierra over the next few days.

An area of low pressure that has been spinning near Hawaii and has picked up lots of moisture is going to move into the West Coast by Tuesday.

We have colder air currently filtering in for the weekend and then we may see some precipitation next Tuesday.

Nice weather today turns much colder by Friday with colder air and a chance for light snow this weekend.

Lots of high clouds around yesterday and today from the front washing out over CA associated with the storm off the Pac NW coast.

The initial precip band took a little longer to reach us so the overnight snowfall amounts didn't materialize.   The snow began falling on the mountain around 5 a.m. and has been falling all morning.  We have a couple inches of fresh snow at high camp.  We did have a little thunder and lightning with the start of the snow this morning!

Expecting the shower activity to diminish today through Saturday morning. Then the cut-off low moves towards the coast tomorrow pushing precip back into the area. Most of the precip should be stuck up along the Western crest and West side of the basin until Saturday night.

Slow moving system still on track for this weekend. The biggest change is to decrease total precip amounts in accordance with the latest model trends. The models may be moving the low out too fast though. The snow levels will start high Saturnday night and then start falling during the day Sunday reaching 7000 ft. by the end of the day.

The unsettled pattern continues into Friday with snow levels 6500-7500 ft. We have a better chance of seeing light snow on the mountain tonight through Friday morning, but only expecting a light coating.
