Julia Mancuso and Squaw Valley Head to the World Cup in Aspen

In honor of the first race of the season, Squaw Valley and Olympic Gold Medalist Julia Mancuso launch an eBay auction to support High Fives Non-Profit Foundation

[Olympic Valley, CA] November 18, 2011Squaw Valley’s team is heading to the FIS Alpine World Cup in Aspen on November 26 and November 27 to cheer on the Lake Tahoe resort’s Olympic Gold Medalist, Julia Mancuso, as she takes on the fastest female skiers in the world. A Squaw skier since age 2, Julia Mancuso is one of the fastest women in ski racing – having won an Olympic Gold Medal, two Silver Medals and first place in final race of last year’s World Cup season.

In honor of the first major ski racing competition of the season, Squaw Valley and Julia Mancuso are launching a special eBay auction to benefit the High Fives Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping winter action sports athletes with life-altering injures get back on their feet. The auction went live on eBay today at 12 p.m. PST, and will run through November 28, 2011. The auction includes a pair of 2012 Völkl Gotamas, Marker Jester Bindings, two Gold Tahoe Super Passes with unlimited access to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, and a private Dawn Patrol with Julia and 20 people providing early access to Squaw’s slopes. Click here to visit the live auction.

Donated by Völkl/Marker, the makers of Julia Mancuso’s own skis and bindings, the 2012 Völkl Gotamas are one of this season’s hottest skis. At 107mm underfoot with a new rocker profile, the Gotamas are perfect for floating on Squaw’s deep powder (the resort received over 800 inches of snow last season). The skis come accompanied by Marker Jester Bindings, one of the most popular bindings on the market, known for their light weight and durability.

The auction package also includes two Gold Tahoe Super Passes and a private Dawn Patrol with Julia. The Gold Tahoe Super Passes, valid at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, offer unlimited skiing and riding on over 6,000 acres, 44 lifts and over 270 trails for the 2011-12 winter season. The private Dawn Patrol with Julia will be valid over the December holiday period – offering the winner and 19 of his or her friends access to several of Squaw’s lifts before the general public (lift tickets or a season pass required).

Squaw Valley invites Julia’s fans who will be in Aspen for the FIS Alpine World Cup to join them for après race fun at the Squaw Valley Julia Mancuso House, located walking distance from the World Cup race venue. For more information, find the Squaw team at finish line cheering for Julia.
