Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows open 1,550 acres of terrain after three days of snow

[Olympic Valley, Calif. / Tahoe City, Calif.] January 23, 2012 – After three days of snowfall, Squaw Valley has received five feet of snow in 72 hours on the upper mountain, and Alpine Meadows has received six feet in 72 hours at the summit - the most of any resort in Tahoe. As a result of the phenomenal snowfall, more than any other Tahoe resort, both Squaw and Alpine Meadows have been able to open substantially more terrain – with 1,550 acres and 21 lifts now open between the two resorts (650 acres at Squaw, 900 acres at Alpine Meadows).

With snow still falling from the sky, chairlifts are carrying elated skiers and riders with ear-to-ear smiles as they experience the powder days they have been dreaming of during the slow start to the winter season. Thanks to the on-going four day storm that has delivered feet upon feet of snow, Squaw and Alpine have opened approximately 700% more terrain than was last week including everything from Squaw’s mountaintop beginner area to coveted advanced and expert terrain at Squaw and Alpine. Both resorts will continue to open significantly more terrain as the week continues.

In celebration of the 72 inches of new snow at Alpine Meadows and 60 inches received at Squaw – The Village at Squaw Valley is launching a 72 hour Super Snow Sale. Guests can save up to 35% and book a room at The Village at Squaw Valley for just $59 per person/per night. To get this incredible rate, guests must book before 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012.
