Frequently Asked Employment Questions

Answers to our most frequently asked employment questions.

1. Is there a way to apply other than the online application? (How can I get a job?)
No. We only accept online applications, please do not fax or email a resume. You can attach your resume to your application in the profile section. Please call Human Resources at 530-581-7112 if you would like to verify that your application has been received.

2. How can I get help with the online application?
Call Human Resources at (530)581-7112 or come by our office at 1901 Chamonix Place (in the Olympic Village Lodge). We have computers here for you to use and we can help you get started on the application.

3. Do I get any special benefits as a Squaw Employee?
Yes! We offer excellent benefits for both seasonal and year round positions. Please check out our Benefits Section.

4. When do jobs start and end?
We are flexible when it comes to schedules, but we do require that you are available for major holidays (Christmas, New Years, and Holiday weekends throughout the winter). Squaw and Alpine traditionally have opened for skiing by Thanksgiving and stay open until May! But it all depends on Mother Nature. Most jobs will start in December and end mid-April, but we do hire throughout the winter season based on need.

5. Can I work part time? And get a pass?
Yes and Yes!

6. What jobs are part time?
Almost all of our seasonal jobs can be part time or full time. Please indicate on your application that you are looking for part time work.

7. How can I get more details about job duties?
Call us! The Human Resources Department is familiar with all of the jobs at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. Also we have complete job descriptions that we can email to you.

8. Is it OK to get a 2nd job?
Yes. You can work in more than one department at Squaw or Alpine. However , you will need to be careful to work only 48 hours or less in a week due to overtime rules.

9. Can I work at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows?
Yes. Guest Services, Race Team and Snowsports’ employees actually go between both mountains as part of their regular job duties. You can also take a second job at Alpine Meadows as long as you are careful with overtime (see above).

10. Is there drug testing?
Yes. All employees are subject to pre employment drug screening. After a job offer is made all employees are required to take a drug test prior to starting work. Employees may also be drug tested after a work comp injury, after company equipment damages or for reasonable suspicion.

11. Where do employees live?
Most of our employees live on the west and north shores of Lake Tahoe (Incline Village to Tahoma) or in Truckee. There are usually a few condos or houses available in Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows also. Please click on our Housing link in the employment section of for more information.

12. I don’t own a car, is there public transportation?
Yes! There is a bus system, TART, that runs from Incline, Tahoma and Truckee. For routes and schedules please visit their website

We want to project a positive friendly image to our customers and we hope you do too! We expect you to be neat and clean at all times. Hair must be of a natural haircut and tied back if long.
