More Snow Tuesday Night into Wednesday / More Snow Tuesday Night into Wednesday

Submitted by ba February 14, 2012 - 8:41pm Weather

We picked up 7 inches from the storm that moved through Sunday night into Monday.  We won't have much of a break as the next storm moves in Tuesday night.  This is a compact little storm dropping down from the North and it will bring more cold and a quick shot of snow.

The snow will fall in a short time frame from aftern midnight into Wednesday morning.  Total snowfall is expected to be around 3-6 inches at the base and 5-9 inches at high camp and above.  Highs will only be in the 20's during the day on Wednesday.

We will have a break on Thursday and Friday before the next storm moves into the Pacific NW on Saturday.  This storm will bring some light snow on the Southern edge to Tahoe.  We may see 1-2 inches from light snow showers.

Two more systems will move through Sunday night and again Monday night.  These systems look like light snow producers as well, but a couple of the forecast models suggest we could see a little bit more with the Sunday storm.  We will have to keep an eye on that the next couple of days.

In the long-range it looks like we may have a break the second half of next week as the ridge of high pressure move in off the West Coast.  That may change after the 25th of the month as the climate models suggest the ridge moves out North of Hawaii opening the storm door to end the month and to start March.  BA
