More Light Snow Possible Thursday night into Friday /

Submitted by ba April 3, 2014 - 9:44am Weather

Clouds are already on the increase this morning from the next system moving into the area.  The best chance for any light snow showers looks to be tonight through Friday afternoon.  Forecast modesl paint enough precip for 1-3 inches of snow on the mountain through Friday afternoon.  With the scattered nature of the precip it will more depend on where the heaviest showers setup.  This system will also keep temperatures cold through Friday.

High pressure builds in along the West Coast this weekend and we transition back into a Springtime pattern again after 10 days of snowy weather.  Highs at base level will be back into the 60's through the middle of next week.

The ridge looks like it will shift East by the middle of next week with another forming out near 140w in the Pacific.  That ridge builds East and a cut-off low forms off the coast by next Thursday.  The forecast models push the weakened low inland into CA next Friday with light precip.  We will have to continue to watch how the models develop the scenario over the next week to see how much precip we could get.  Right now it does not look like a significant event, but would bring a return of unsettled weather in 8 days.

The long range of the models and the ensembles still show the ridge shifting up towards Alaska towards mid-month which may allow a few more systems to reach the West Coast around the middle of the month.

Stay tuned....BA
