Boats and sundresses are again ubiquitous as sweet summer is upon us! Winter 2010-2011 was a record-breaker but left our valley’s wonderful foliage little time to grow. Last year’s winter ended about as quick as it began and the underrated benefit has been a long and glorious growing season from which beautiful flowers and greenery have sprung forth. The hiking in Shirley Canyon is as gorgeous as ever and here at Squaw Valley we’re excited for another season of sun and fun!
With a plethora of events and plenty of DJs scheduled to perform, the High Camp Pool and Hot Tub will not disappoint anyone this year. From bikini-clad co-eds to youngsters and their water wings, this summer’s hot spot will be a ton of fun all season long. The Poolside Umbrella Bar and Cafe is also revamping their menus and will have some fresh new offerings for sun-soaked revelers.
After a very popular first season, paintball at High Camp returns with two different courses, depending on your preference. Play hide-and-seek in the Woodsball course or pit your wits against your friends face-to-face in the Speedball Arena. Scheduled to open June 29th, paintball at High Camp is another activity that will benefit immensely from the long spring growing season.
The majestic 18-hole disc golf course is again free for all comers, and is a great way to hike and sightsee while feeding your competitive spirit. The stunning Sierra views from the roller skating rink are always popular and also can be very romantic. In fact, High Camp is as good as any a place to sweep your loved one off his or her feet; heck, even tennis can be romantic when played against the backdrop of the majestic Sierra. Yeah, there’s tennis up here too!
So lace up your Hi-Tecs and jump on the Aerial Tram, as this summer at Squaw Valley is sure to be a great time for kids, adults….and everyone in between!
