1 Foot of Snow Already with More to Come /

Submitted by ba November 30, 2012 - 12:26pm Weather

Snow levels have stayed pretty low so far with 80% of the mountain picking up accumulating snowfall.  Another 6 inches overnight at high camp has brought the storm total to 12 inches so far.

Some of the heaviest snowfall so far is falling today (Friday) and we could see 1-3 feet of additional snow on the mountain through Saturday.  Saturday the precipitation should be much lighter and maybe some breaks.

Then on Sunday a very strong storm moves in that will double the precipitation amounts seen so far.  The snow levels will come up between 8000-9000 ft. briefly Sunday morning before dropping to the base during the afternoon.  We could see several more feet up top and several inches all the way to the base by the time the storm moves out Sunday night.

A brief break Monday and Tuesday before another quick moving storm moves in by Wednesday.  This one will not be very cold either with the upper half of the mountain picking up several more inches.

Looking at the long-range forecast we could see much colder air moving in by the second weekend of December into mid-month.  The storm door should still be open allowing some colder snowfall events.  BA
