There are no changes in the thinking on the system moving in tomorrow lasting into Thursday morning. The snow could begin falling on the mountain by late morning tomorrow. The precip will start light going into Tuesday night. During the day Wednesay as the jet stream aims at the area we should see heavier snowfall. Then lingering snow showers under cold unstable air Wednesday night that begin to clear out on Thursday.
You can see the low pressure spinning up off the coast this morning.
Totals by Thursday are expect to be 6-12 inches at the base and 12-18 inches on the mountain. The winds will pick up Tuesday and could gust up to 50 mph into Wednesday on the mountain.
There is agreement still that the cold trough off the coast pushes in Saturday afternoon into Saturday night bringing more snowfall to the area down to base level. It looks like enough snow could fall Saturday afternoon through Saturday night to bring similar amounts as what falls with the first system moving in tomorrow.
There is another storm that rotates in Monday afternoon into Tuesday that could drop several more inches of snow.
The forecast models are in pretty decent agreement that we could see another storm towards the end of next week. Looking at the ensemble runs there is decent agreement in a break the weekend of the 5th with more storms possible the week of the 7th.
This could be one of the most active 2 week periods this Winter. The storms are also dropping out of the North Pacific and have cold air with them. The larger storms earlier this season had warmer air and higher snow levels. IF the forecast pans out over the next 1-2 weeks snow conditions could be pretty good for this time of year.
