Coldest Air So Far This Season on the Way, With Some Snow /

Submitted by ba December 1, 2013 - 7:16am Weather

Temperatures on Monday may hit 50 degrees but the winds will be starting to pick up ahead of the cold front.  Cold low pressure will be working its way down the coast Canadian coast on Monday but then it moves inland over the Pacific NW on Tuesday.  That will keep the heavy precip to our North.

We will see some snow with and just behind the passage of the cold front on Tuesday.  Forecast models have all been in agreement the past 2 days on bringing in enough moisture for 3-6 inches of snow at the base, and 6-9 inches on the mountain.  We will have to watch where snow bands setup behind the front on Tuesday for the possibility of picking up a bit more.

The rest of the week into next weekend the ridge of high pressure sits just off the coast and the cold trough will be stuck over the West.  High temps should not get out of the 20's through next weekend.  A weak system may slide down the coast next weekend from the North bringing the chance for a dusting of snow and reinforcing the cold air.  This will be a good week of around the clock snow making weather.

The forecast models have still been struggling with the long-range forecast.  Still, the forecast shows the trend to retrograde the ridge off the coast for week 2 and flattening it, with the possibility of several cold storms moving into the West Coast.

Stay tuned....BA
