Cold Weekend Follows 10 inches of Fresh Snow /

Submitted by ba November 22, 2013 - 7:23am Weather

We picked up 10 inches of snow this week on the upper mountain from several days of precip.  A cold front moved through Thursday leaving lots of cold air around for the weekend.

It's a chilly 12 degrees outside this morning.  The snow guns are cranking as they prepare to make enough snow for opening day.  The cold will stick around into the weekend with highs in the 30's and 40's, and lows in the teens.

The next chance for some snow will be Thanksgiving as a storm approaches CA and then slides South down the coast.  The question is how far inland will the system push before moving South.  Right now it looks like we we only see light amounts.

Looking at the first week of December the GFS forecast model is back to showing a ridge building in keeping us dry, while the European and Canadian forecast models continue to show a cold and stormy pattern.  The latter tend to perform better in the longer range  so let's hope that they are right.

Stay tuned...BA
